Do you need a dedicated “makeup school”?
Not necessarily. At most accredited beauty schools, makeup artistry isn’t a standalone school; it’s taught as part of a broader program that builds a full range of beauty skills. At Evergreen Beauty College, makeup application is part of both our Esthetics and Cosmetology programs.
In Esthetics, you’ll practice make-up application alongside skin analysis, facials, and skincare. This training pairs makeup artistry with a deep understanding of the skin underneath it.
In Cosmetology, makeup is part of a broad skill set that also covers hair and nails. This could be a good fit if you want to offer a wider variety of services.

Why accreditation and hands-on training matter

Evergreen Beauty College is nationally accredited by NACCAS (the National Accrediting Commission of Career Arts & Sciences), and we’re licensed and approved by the Washington State Board of Cosmetology and the Washington State Department of Health. Accreditation also matters for practical reasons: it’s what makes students eligible to apply for financial aid, while those at non-accredited schools are not.
You will improve your makeup artistry skills by doing makeup, not by watching people do makeup. The fastest way to grow is by practicing on real people, which is exactly how we train. Our campuses will build students’ skills through hands-on training under the guidance of experienced educators. By the time you finish, you’ve done the work and established your portfolio.

That depends on the program you choose. Our Esthetics program is 750 hours (about 6 months). Our Cosmetology program is 1,600 hours (about 13 months) and covers a broader range of beauty skills.
Both run on our EverFlex schedule, which is designed to fit around the rest of your life: about 4 hours on campus each day, plus roughly 10 hours of online coursework with morning, afternoon, and evening, depending on your campus. With that kind of flexibility, you can shape your schedule around work, family, and everything else.
