What Happens After You Finish Your Hours
After you finish your program, you’ll take the licensure exam. Washington’s exam has two parts: a written test of about 110 questions you’ll have 90 minutes to complete, and a hands-on practical exam that runs roughly three hours and covers skills like shaping, cuticle care, polish application, and sanitation. You can register for testing within 100 hours of finishing your training, so there’s no need to wait until your very last day.
Once you’ve passed both parts, you apply for your manicurist license through the Washington State Department of Licensing website. Between scheduling your exams and the state issuing your license, it’s reasonable to expect that finalizing everything will take a few weeks after you graduate. Once they are, you’ll be licensed to practice anywhere in Washington.
