The beauty of online esthetician programs lies in the flexibility they offer to budding skincare specialists. If you’re a skincare enthusiast who likes to bask in product during your nightly routine, loves learning the cleanest and most effective ways to hydrate your skin, and enjoys giving others insider tips on how to improve theirs, you may be inclined to dip your toe into the world of esthetics.

Learn if esthetics is right for you, whether that means touring the campus and meeting the faculty and students to get a real sense of what an on-campus esthetician program is like or enrolling in an online course.

Do your state board requirements accept online hours?

One of the main concerns for many would-be students is whether they will have the flexibility in their work and life schedules to take classes on campus.

The first step is ensuring that online education is permitted in the state where you plan to practice esthetics. Different states have different licensing requirements, and you may need a certain number of on-site hours.

In Washington state, esthetics programs require a minimum of 750 hours of instruction. Not all of the required hours can be completed online since students must complete a certain amount of hands-on training and be present on campus.

Meet the prerequisites before enrolling in an esthetics program

Students must meet course prerequisites before enrolling. In most esthetics courses, the only requirements are having a GED or high school diploma and being at least 16 or 18, depending on the state. Talk to the beauty school you’re interested in to learn more about eligibility.

In Washington state, students must be 17 years old and have a high school diploma or equivalent. There are some exceptions to this rule. Check with each individual school on requirements.

Get hands-on training with real clients

While online courses offer exceptional convenience and flexibility and provide valuable time for students to process information, helping students gain hands-on practice with real clients is essential for a comprehensive education, especially in the beauty industry, where practical experience is crucial.

The requirements for on-site training can vary depending on the state you choose to study in and the esthetic program you opt to attend.

For esthetician students, spending time with clients is vital for understanding different skin conditions in the flesh and providing effective treatments. Whether you favor an online learning environment or being present for class in person, gaining practical experience with real clients is key to becoming a successful professional.

Become a licensed esthetician

In a certified esthetician program, students will hone skills beyond beauty treatments, learn to communicate effectively with customers, and develop business management skills. Additionally, students will apply many real-world skills in the esthetics program and throughout their careers.

Evergreen Beauty College offers a comprehensive education for students interested in the beauty industry. As an accredited school, it provides financial aid options to help students fund their education. The college’s traditional esthetician program includes online programs and hands-on learning experiences, ensuring that students receive theoretical and practical training.

Our esthetician program is designed to equip students with practical skills directly applicable to their future careers. Students will complete a specified number of hours of training, during which they will learn various skin care treatments, including chemical peels, makeup techniques, and customer service skills.

If you want to become an esthetician with online training, consider talking to an expert at Evergreen Beauty College. Like our cosmetology training, our esthetics course fosters a supportive and creative environment, offering students flexibility and the tools they need to thrive.

FAQs: Are online esthetician courses available?

Can I get an esthetician license online in Washington state?

In Washington state, you can’t obtain an esthetician license solely through an online school. While esthetician schools may offer online classes as part of their education courses, the state’s licensing requirements require a certain amount of hands-on training for which students must be on campus.

An esthetician program must include practical, in-person training to ensure students gain the necessary communication and consulting skills and experience to provide professional services.

Online classes can supplement the learning experience but can’t replace the in-person training needed to meet Washington’s licensing requirements for estheticians.

How much do esthetics programs cost in Washington state?

An esthetician program can range from $12,000 to $15,000, depending on the school. These costs do not include book, application and other applicable fees.

How many hours of an esthetics program can you take online?

Each state’s rules vary. In Washington state, you must meet the 750-hour requirement to complete the program. Some schools may allow up to 500 online course hours out of the 750 hours required in Washington state for an esthetician program.
