Cosmetology Student Success Story: Teagan Massot

About Teagan Massot
Teagan Massot has never been afraid to go where the road takes her. Before enrolling at EBC’s Mount Vernon campus, she spent her early twenties doing exactly what felt right: traveling through over 20 states, visiting Portugal, and soaking up as much of life as she could. She even lived in Tennessee for seven months, which is where she found her dog and absolute best friend, who eventually road tripped all the way home with her. Teagan is the kind of person who shows up fully wherever she lands, and beauty school has been no different.
Her love of beauty goes all the way back to childhood. She grew up playing with Bratz dolls and Polly Pockets, and styling her family’s hair with whatever clips she could find. It was playful and creative then, and it still is now. “I’m a very creative person and knew I wanted a job that let me express that part of myself,” she shares. “I also really enjoy boosting people up and making them feel good, so in my head the beauty industry is the perfect career path for me.” For Teagan, cosmetology is not just a skill set. It is a way to connect with people and leave them feeling better than when they walked in.
When she started looking at schools, EBC’s Mount Vernon campus stood out right away. It was close to home, but more than that, it felt right. “I really enjoyed the teachers, layout and how they ran the school when I did my tour,” she says. That first impression has held up ever since.
The Evergreen Experience

Hairstyle and Highlights created by Teagan
If you ask Teagan what she loves most in the salon, she will tell you: styling. She has always had a natural feel for it, practicing on herself long before she ever learned the theory behind it. Getting to actually study the craft has taken that instinct somewhere new. “Really learning the techniques and what makes a hairstyle so amazing and balanced has been super fun,” she says. Understanding the why behind a great style has made her work sharper, more intentional, and even more exciting.
What has helped her grow the most, though, is the people guiding her along the way. Two instructors in particular have made a real difference in how she shows up every day. “They really make school so enjoyable to come to, and make learning new tricky skills so much easier,” she says. “I wouldn’t have the confidence in myself that I do in school without them.” That kind of support is something Teagan does not take for granted, and it is exactly the kind of environment she was hoping to find when she walked through the door.
Clients who sit in Teagan’s chair can expect someone who is warm, creative, and genuinely invested in making them feel good. She brings the same easy, open energy to the salon that she brings to everything else in her life. She is someone who makes people feel welcome, and that matters just as much as the technical work.
The Next Step

Teagan already has a clear picture of where she is headed. Right after graduation, she plans to land a salon position and start building her clientele. But she is not stopping there. Within the next three to five years, she is dreaming of having her own studio where she works with hair clients during the week and travels on weekends for event styling. It is a vision that perfectly suits who she is: creative, mobile, and always ready for the next adventure.
For anyone on the fence about taking the leap, Teagan’s advice is as real as it gets: “Just do it lol. It’s scary taking those steps and making such a big commitment but it really pays off, especially if it’s something you’re passionate about.”
Teagan Massot is expected to graduate from EBC’s Mount Vernon campus in December 2026. Follow her hair work on Instagram at @Stylesby.TGN and her main account at @teagscrapbook. We are so excited to see where this next chapter takes her!
