Esthetics Student Success Story: Amaya Gutierrez

About Amaya Gutierrez

Amaya Gutierrez had a vision for her life long before she ever set foot in beauty school. She just needed the right push to go after it.

Working as a property manager, she started treating herself to regular waxes and facials, and the estheticians she saw left an impression. They were skilled, they were confident, and they were running their own thing. “Getting those services made me want to become a girl boss, just like I have always dreamed of,” she says.

Moving out on her own brought its own kind of clarity. Living independently means creating your own future, and Amaya felt that pressure in the best possible way. She wanted to build something of her own, and beauty was the path.

EBC’s Everett campus had quietly been part of her world for a while. She had driven past it more times than she could count, growing more curious each time. Eventually she did something about it. She started asking questions, then scheduled a tour, and before long she was walking in for her first day of school. Now, two months from graduation, she is right where she set out to be.

The Evergreen Experience

Waxing and facials were the services that first caught Amaya’s attention, and now that she is in school, both waxing and lash extensions have become the areas she loves most. She recently earned her lash certification through Genuine Academy, giving her a strong foundation to practice and refine her technique as she works toward her license. The clients will come after graduation, but the preparation is already well underway.

At EBC, what has made the biggest difference is the hands-on repetition built into every class. Technique sticks when you practice it on real clients, and that consistent real-world experience is exactly what has sharpened Amaya’s skills as she approaches the finish line.

When she is with a client, Amaya leads with genuine care. She takes the time to understand what someone actually needs, whether that is a product recommendation or a lash style that truly enhances their features, and she guides them with honesty and warmth. Clients leave feeling heard and well taken care of, and that is exactly the experience she is building her future on.

The Next Step

Amaya already has a clear vision for what comes next. Once she earns her license, she plans to grow her lash work into a full business, and down the road she wants to create her very own wax brand. The woman who once sat in someone else’s esthetics chair is building the skills to run her own corner of the industry.

Her advice to anyone still on the fence about enrolling? “Just do it. If Britney Spears survived 2007, you can survive beauty school.” Short, direct, and exactly the kind of energy Amaya brings to everything she does.

Amaya Gutierrez is expected to graduate from EBC’s Everett campus in September 2026. Follow Amaya’s work on Instagram at @blestheticsbyamaya and Tiktok at @blestheticsbyamaya. We cannot wait to see what she builds!
